The Governor’s Workforce Cabinet

Governor Hobbs created the Workforce Cabinet to implement and coordinate actions, policies, programs, and engagement across state government to meet Arizona’s workforce needs and help create opportunities for every Arizonan, in line and in consultation with the vision, roadmap, and target areas set by the Workforce Arizona Council.

Components:

As outlined in the Governor’s Executive Order, the Workforce Cabinet includes the following policies:

  • Organize Workforce Cabinet to align and activate state agencies to advance the Governor’s workforce goals
  • Create focused work groups to carry forward industry- and population-specific progress towards specified, time-bound goals
  • Fully leverage federal resources by setting aside a target of 1 percent of federal funds for workforce, where allowable
  • Data-sharing and program inventory across state government to further inter-agency coordination on workforce

Also outlined in the Governor’s Executive Order, following State Agencies, offices, commissions, and employees shall be members and designate a liaison to the Workforce Cabinet:

  • Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System
  • Arizona Department of Health Services
  • Arizona Department of Homeland Security
  • Industrial Commission of Arizona

  • Arizona Department of Transportation
  • Arizona State Broadband Office, under the Arizona Commerce Authority
  • Governor’s Office of Resiliency
  • Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry
  • Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services
  • Arizona Office of Tourism
  • Governor’s Office on Tribal Relations
  • Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family
  • Arizona Commission of African-American Affairs
  • Governor’s Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility

Working Groups:

The Workforce Cabinet may create working groups, as needed, to identify and implement workforce initiatives and as directed by the Governor. Current working groups include:

The Workforce Cabinet will coordinate closely with the Arizona Workforce Council who works with a broader suite of stakeholders from education, business and industry to meet the state’s workforce needs.
