Arizona Apprenticeship Week
Arizona Apprenticeship Week is November 17-23, 2024. During this week, Arizonans will be celebrating registered apprenticeship programs across the state.
Governor Hobbs has highlighted apprenticeships as a proven tool for connecting Arizonans to good-paying jobs and postsecondary education and strategy for employers to attract and retain a skilled workforce. Apprenticeship Week will include a series of announcements and events highlighting Registered Apprenticeships in Arizona and how employers, education and training providers, labor organizations, community-based organizations, local governments, and other workforce development support organizations are partnering to strengthen Arizona’s workforce and support Arizona workers through apprenticeships.
About Registered Apprenticeships
A Registered Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high-quality career and postsecondary education pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience and receive progressive wage increases; classroom instruction; and a portable, nationally recognized credential.
Registered apprenticeship programs help employers build a skilled workforce, give opportunities for individuals to earn a postsecondary credential, and provide paid employment for apprentices to learn a sustainable trade. Apprenticeships are jobs. Apprentices earn while they learn and earn an education credential once they complete their programs. Apprentices receive raises as they gain skills throughout the apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships are a pathway for Arizonans to complete a postsecondary credential, which increases their future earnings potential. On average, Arizona apprentices earn a wage upon completion of $31 per hour, which is 35% higher than Arizona's median wage.
